Well, Family, it’s that time of year again, that we have all been waiting on. No, I am not talking about the election season. Who doesn’t love some good ole Caribbean food, ehh? We’re talking the jerk that Caribbean island spices that we have grown love and savior. You know that jerk spicy chicken, pork, and fish ehh. Traditionally, jerk meats are cooked on pimento wood, using allspice and Scotch bonnet peppers.
The Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival has returned to South Florida in an all-new location at the Miramar Regional Park in its 18th year. This year the organizers have taken great steps to ensure fans have a better experience than ever before. The parks canopy Amphitheater provides cover from the elements, while there are several new areas like the Grace Village, The Publix Culinary Pavilion and the Kidz Zone. This annual event will happen on Sunday, November 10th from 12 noon – 10 p.m., with dozens of vendors offering everything in the way of jerk — from chicken to lobster to ice cream and many other island favorites.
There will also be a special presentation honoring the memory of three-time Quick- Fire Celebrity Chef Contest winner Todd Tongen. The QuickFire Celebrity Chef award will permanently bear his name.
There will be lots of spicy things to eat along with great music, from Jamaican band Third World and a host of other acts (click here for info on various performances https://www.jerkfestival.com/fun.html). Along with interactive cooking demos, a festive kids area and of course, the Jamaican Jerk cooking competition.
