Popular comedian and radio host D.L. Hughley has become an political commentator for those whose voice are not heard or dismissed. In a clip from the upcoming episode of OWNS’s “Black Love,” Hughley and his wife LaDonna open up about the most challenging periods of their marriage.
Hugely discusses how his early life affected his view on marriage. He didn’t hold back as he explained why he has mistreated his wife during their relationship.
“The way I grew up was, you had to take care of your family, you had beat the sun home and you had to make sure no bullsh*t came to your house. And I was only successful with one of those. When people talk to me about being married, I know that I love her and I know that I’m in love with her and I know that I’ve done things that aren’t worthy of that. And I don’t pretend as if they didn’t happen. I’ve cheated; I’ve been hard to deal with. I’ve said mean things, I’ve done mean things. I’ve never been physically abusive but I would say I’ve been emotionally and spiritually abusive, yes.”
Hugely offers hope on how couple can survive these challenges from his own story.
