Were you like many of us standing line in anticipation to see the long the Marvel depiction of this great African nation called Wakanda. After getting a fleeting glimpse of this rich cultural we were felt wanting more of the African kingdom ruled by T’Challa (played by Chadwick Boseman). We wanted to travel to this black mecca to be rekindled with our ancestors. Well, we still can. The fictional kingdom draws its inspiration from beautiful countries on the African continent. Over the next few months, we will be walking through the many splendid country’s that make up the continent of Africa and that have influenced Wakanda.
Ethiopia is located in the ‘Horn of Africa’ along the northeast region of the continent and contains more than 70% of Africa’s mountains. Ethiopia is the most populous landlocked country in the world and the second-most populous nation on the African continent. Its capital and largest city is Addis Ababa, which lies a few miles west of the East African rift that splits the country into the Nubian and Somali tectonic plates. Ethiopia, also known as the Cradle of Mankind, is home to the oldest humanoid on earth, the ancient Aksumite Empire, Ark of the Covenant, and countless historical museums and churches including Debre Birhan Selassie I Church. Addis Ababa which means “New Flower” is the headquarters of the African Union.
This rich cultural city offers travelers taste from authentic restaurants and many theatrical experiences, it serves as the gateway to all the history lessons and books documenting the history of this amazing country.
